Borderlands 3 players have the option to create a new character and immediately transport to Xylourgos, but the gear and loot they receive will be scaled to their current level. The new DLC offers 8 new legendary guns and more, so receiving all of this loot at a low level means players will have to return at a later point to re-farm the guns they like. In other words, players that prepare for the DLC will benefit much more from the loot they receive and will not have to re-farm anything, so this is how to best prepare for the upcoming DLC.

Borderlands 3 Level Cap
The Borderlands 3 level cap currently stands at 53 which means this is where characters should be before entering the new DLC. If players come in at a lower level, the loot they will receive may become useless as they progress farther in the game. Other than completing the base game, there are a few things players can do to help boost their level to meet the current cap.
First off, players should be using mayhem mode after completing the main campaign. Mayhem mode essentially allows players to boost the difficulty of the game which in turn boosts the amount of loot, cash, Eridium, and most importantly, XP received in the game. Mayhem mode allows players to replay the campaign with a twist offering some fresh experiences as well as increased XP for their efforts.
Next, players should play through the last DLC, Moxxi’s Heist of the Handsome Jackpot. This DLC offers enough content to boost XP as well as offer some useful rewards that can be slotted for the new DLC. Not only does this DLC offer an immersive main mission, it also has various side missions that are fun and exciting. 2K did very well crafting this last DLC, and it should be played through in full before taking part in the next DLC.
Borderlands 3 Loot
Moxxi’s Heist of the Handsome Jackpot offered more than just XP, it offered legendary guns, and more importantly, character mods that are extremely useful going forward. The legendary loot available in the previous Borderlands 3 DLC include 3 pistols, 4 SMG’s, 2 shotguns, 3 RPG’s, a sniper, a shield, and a new class mod for each character. If players reach a high level (around 47-50) before taking part in Moxxi’s Heist of the Handsome Jackpot, they will reach level 53 by the end and get high level legendary loot that will be extremely useful in Guns, Love, and Tentacles.
Another way of getting high level loot is by using Shift Codes. These gift golden keys which can be used in Sanctuary’s chest to gain legendary and other highly useful gear. By using shift codes, BL3 players can quickly farm a mass of legendary gear as some shift codes gift up to 5 golden keys.
By reaching a high level through mayhem mode and the previous DLC, players are already well prepared for the loot in Guns, Love, and Tentacles. With high level legendary guns and mods equipped, players will be able to rip through the new BL3 DLC with ease and farm as much as they can from the 8 new legendary guns which all players should get their hands on.
So, in summary, if players reach level 53 through the main campaign, side missions, mayhem mode, and the last DLC, they will be rewarded with the highest level loot they can possibly get from the new DLC. This is worth doing as the new DLC boasts some pretty interesting new legendary gear. Additionally, if Borderlands 3 players play through the old DLC at a high level, they will receive good loot for the new DLC. By equipping a legendary class mod, legendary shield, and multiple legendary guns, players will make minced meat of this new DLC and get their high level rewards effortlessly and quickly.
